Visiting Live a Little Vans

Everything You Need to Know Before Your Appointment

Whether you're coming in for a full van build, an upgrade, or a service appointment, we're excited to have you visit us at Live a Little Vans.

This page covers everything you need to know before arriving at our shop, how to prepare your van, and what to expect during and after your appointment.

  • Shop Address

    1144 Amity Road
    Bethany, Connecticut 06524

*The shop is not visible from the road. Stay straight on the driveway and head up the hill - you will see the shop ahead.

    Appointment Times

All visits are by appointment only. If you're running early or late, please let us know as soon as possible.

    Early Drop-Offs

Need to arrive the night before? No problem. In many cases we can accommodate early drop-offs. Please contact us ahead of time so we can make arrangements.

    Traveling from afar?

If you're traveling a long distance, we're happy to help coordinate scheduling and can offer overnight camping on our property.

  • If the work being performed will be done within the day then you are welcome to explore our property or hang out in our waiting area. We have WiFi available, coffee and water provided. The property has plenty of room to explore, including a pond and nearby hiking trails.

For safety and efficiency, customers are not permitted in the shop during active work. Our team needs a distraction-free workspace to ensure every project is completed safely and to our standards.

  • Remove Personal Belongings

Please remove or secure any valuables before arriving.

For larger projects, we may need access to cabinets, storage compartments, electrical systems, plumbing systems, or garage areas. The more space we have available, the more efficiently we can work.

    Refrigerators & Food

Electrical work may require power to be disconnected.

If your project involves electrical upgrades, service work, or battery replacements, please plan accordingly and remove any perishable food items.

    Water Systems

If your appointment involves plumbing, water tanks, heaters, filtration systems, or shower components, please arrive with:

    • Fresh water tank empty

    • Gray tank emptied

    • Black tank or toilet serviced (if applicable)

This helps us begin work immediately and prevents unnecessary delays.

    Exterior Accessories

Please remove any accessories that may interfere with the scheduled work, including:

    • Bikes

    • Cargo boxes

    • Hitch-mounted racks

    • Kayaks

    • Other removable gear

If you're unsure whether something needs to be removed, just ask.

  • Please inform us of any known issues with your van before your appointment, even if they are unrelated to the work we have been hired to perform.

    Examples may include:

    • Electrical issues or warning lights

    • Water leaks

    • Heater or air conditioner problems

    • Battery charging concerns

    • Suspension, steering, or brake noises

    • Check engine lights or drivability issues

    • Plumbing or appliance malfunctions

    • Previous installation work performed by other shops or owners

Sharing this information helps us document any pre-existing concerns and ensures there is a clear understanding of your vehicle's condition prior to the start of work.

In some cases, notifying us in advance may also provide an opportunity for our team to investigate or address the issue while your van is already in our shop. If additional diagnostic or repair work is recommended, we will discuss options and obtain approval before proceeding.

  • Full Builds

Our full custom builds typically take approximately 8–10 weeks depending on complexity and current production schedule.

We'll provide regular updates throughout the build process and remain available to answer questions.

    Service & Upgrade Appointments

Most upgrades and service appointments are completed in a single day, though some larger projects may require multiple days.

We'll provide an estimated completion timeframe before work begins.

    Additional Work Requests

Occasionally we discover opportunities for improvement or unexpected issues once work begins.

If additional work is recommended, we will contact you for approval before proceeding.

  • Final Payment

Final payment is due prior to vehicle release.

    Vehicle Walkthrough

When you pick up your van, we'll walk you through any systems, upgrades, or new equipment installed during your visit.

Depending on the scope of work, this orientation may take anywhere from 15 minutes to over two hours for a full build orientation.

    Bring Your Questions

We encourage you to ask questions during pickup. Our goal is for you to leave confident and comfortable using your new systems.

  • Can I camp at the shop?

In some situations, yes. Please contact us in advance so we can discuss accommodations and availability.

    Can I bring my dog?

Yes, well behaved dogs are welcome to visit the shop with you. We have a great property for them to explore. We just ask that you clean up after them and not to let them wander unsupervised.

Can I ship parts directly to the shop?

In some situations, yes. Please contact us before placing the order so we can ensure proper timing and storage.

Can I leave my van after the work is complete?

If your travel plans require a delayed pickup, just let us know. If it is for an extended period storage fees may apply.

    Do you offer a warranty?

Yes. Live a Little Vans provides a one-year workmanship warranty on our installations and builds. We also remain available for support well beyond the warranty period.

What if I have an issue on the road?

Contact us and we'll do our best to help. Many issues can be diagnosed remotely.

  • Our relationship doesn't end when you drive away.

If you have questions about your build, upgrades, electrical system, plumbing system, heating, cooling, or accessories, we're here to help.

Before reaching out, we recommend reviewing any documentation, manuals, and videos we provided during delivery. Many common questions can be answered there quickly.

Our full build clients will have exclusive access to Grover, an online app that will assist with support on their van and travel.

If you still need assistance, contact us and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
